1) Discussion of sculptor of bust for Palmer Field / Public Works RFP
Busts of William Pomfret (baseball) and Bernie O’Rourke (football) are to be commissioned to be
created and installed at Palmer Field. The Arts Commission has been tasked with assisting with
researching sculptors and creating the RFP.
The RFP will solicit proposals for the two busts in a realistic/representational style, both to be
created by the same sculptor and installed at Palmer Field. The RFP will call for the busts to be
approximately 2.5 feet high and installed on a pedestal.
Stephan Allison supplied a list of sculptors from the State Registry, which the Committee reviewed.
The Committee also reviewed websites of Connecticut sculptors, including ctsculptors.org. Other
resources include NEFA’s CreativeGround and Lyme Academy of Fine Arts.
The list of sculptors will be narrowed down to 5, and submitted to the Department of Public Works.
The Public Art Committee will be involved with the RFP with the Public Works, to keep apprised of
the extent of their work in the project (installation, supplying the pedestal, etc).
The work of the following sculptors will be reviewed:
