MINUTES OF THE MEETING Middletown Commission on the Arts, Executive Committee Wednesday, January 18, 2023 3:30 p.m., Middletown, CT VIRTUAL BY WEBEX In attendance: Executive Committee: Lee Godburn, Pamela Steele, Domenique Thornton Also in attendance: Kate TenEyck; Kisha Michael, Arts Coordinator and Julia Faraci, Staff 1. Call to order : Meeting called to order at 3:34 p.m. 2. Public Session : No members of the public in attendance 3. Assign Secretary : Thornton and Faraci took notes for minutes 4. Approval of Agenda : Michael moved to approve agenda, Thornton seconded, passed unanimously 5. Old Business : No report 6. New Business a. Riverfront Reconnect Proposal – report from Kate Ten Eyck TenEyck reported on her work on the Riverfront Reconnect Project (tunnel between Melilli parking lot and the riverfront). She produced a proposal, budget, and detailed schedule of the project, along with documentation of her contacts and progress in a diary. She has provided the electronic files to the Arts & Culture Office and shared them with the Executive Committee. At this point, TenEyck is requesting the support of the Arts Commission for the project. Local support will be necessary for the Project to move forward and for funding. Discussion ensued concerning future steps, including bringing before the Mayor and reviewing with the City’s Legal Department. b. New Commissioner Recommendations Discussion of proposed nominees. Nominating Committee can move forward with proposing names to the Mayor. c. Past Grantees Updates and Project status – report from staff Michael reported that some grantees have not finished the projects for which they have been funded; some have updated completion dates, and some will be submitting interim reports. d.
