Minutes from March 9, 2021 Meeting
Present: Pat Distefano Kevin Elak, Raven Fenmore, Yvonne Joy, Anthony Mangiafico, Linda

Call To Order:
Meeting was called to order at 6:09PM by Pat Distefano.

Directors Report:
Director of Health
o Camille Salamone, Assistant Registrar of Vital Statistics, retired from the Health
Department after over 30 years of service
Division Report
o Jennifer Sparks provided an update on environmental health, housing, emergency
preparedness, and health education activities.
Old Business:
Kevin Elak provided an update of COVID-19 cases and vaccination clinics to board members
New Business:
Applications for 2021-2022 Public Health Block Grants have been received by the health
department. Board members will receive copied of the grant applications in the mail. Board
members will allocate funding to grant awardees in June.
The Middletown Health Department submitted a grant application to the Department of Mental
Health and Addiction Services (DMHAS) for an Opioid Use Disorder grant. Middletown is one of
several communities in Connecticut that has seen an increase in opioid overdoses. Grant
funding will be used to hire a part-time person to provide training to prescribers/pharmacists in
Middletown, and provide training and distribution of naloxone.
