Minutes from January 11, 2022 Meeting
Present: Patricia DiStefano, Anthony Mangiafico, Yvonne Joy, Aaron Roome, Reverend Robyn
Anderson, Kevin Elak, Jennifer Sparks
Absent: Stan Opalacz, Linda Salafia
Call To Order:
Meeting was called to order at 6:12 PM by Pat DiStefano.
Approval of Minutes:
Minutes for December 14, 2021. Motion by Anthony Mangiafico. 2nd by Pat DiStefano.
Approved.
Public Hearing for Agenda Items:
None
Directors Report:
Director of Health
o Kevin Elak provided an update regarding the rise in Covid-19 cases and local testing sites
for the public and city employees (hours and location). Kevin discussed the new mask
mandate in the City of Middletown along with the recent mask and Covid-19 test kit
distribution. Kevin discussed Middletown’s vaccination sites, the new pediatric
vaccination clinic at AME Zion Church and the CDC’s updated booster shot
recommendations. Kevin spoke about Middletown’s warming centers at the Wesley Inn
& Suites on Washington Street and the Grace and Mercy Family Church warming center
on Main Street.
Division Report
o Jennifer Sparks provided an update on environmental health, housing and emergency
preparedness activities.
Old Business: none
New Business: The discussion of the 2022-2023 Public Health Block Grant which the Middletown Health
Department is now accepting applications for.
