COMMITTEE CONCERNING PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES MEETING MINUTES City of Middletown 61 Durant Terrace September 14, 2021 6:00 PM 1. Members Present: Marty Knight/Chairperson, Phil Cacciola, Richard Pelletier, Keith Vinci, Joseph Bibisi. Absent: Elderrean Paules, August DeFrance, Tateisha Perry, Joe Carta Staff Present: Catherine Lechowicz – Director of Recreation and Community Services General Public: none 2. Meeting Called to Order: Called to order at 6:03pm. 3. Public Hearing: 4. Approval of Minutes: A motion to approve the meeting minutes of June 1, 2021, was made by Rich Pelletier and seconded by Joe Bibisi. The motion carries. Departmental Reports:  Richard Pelletier stated Beman is now open. There is a punchlist of items still to complete.  Elderrean Paules was not present but let Marty know she did not have anything to report.  Joseph Bibisi stated they are still working on a location for the warming center for this upcoming winter season.  Phil Cacciola inquired about the Canoe Club project and if there was representation from this committee and if they were ensuring it was ADA compliant. Richard Pelletier is serving on that committee. Discussion ensued. Phil also inquired about the Vets Pool project, Director Lechowicz gave an overview of the project and how the pool will have a zero degree entry making it fully accessible.  Keith Vinci said that he was still trying to find out more about the place in Wallingford that is for hearing impaired.  Cathy stated there were no significant ADA issues to report. Gave a brief update on the Rec Center renovations and how there will be back up power at that building. Old Business New Business: Miscellaneous:  Phil Cacciola asked about an update with closed captioning of meetings. It was stated that most TVs have that capability and now WebEx has closed captioning for hybrid meetings. Adjournment: A motion of adjournment was made by Joe Bibis and was seconded by Phil Caccioal.
