COMMITTEE CONCERNING PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES MEETING MINUTES City of Middletown 61 Durant Terrace November 2, 2021 6:00 PM 1. Members Present: Marty Knight/Chairperson, Phil Cacciola, Richard Pelletier, Keith Vinci, Joe Carta (Via Webex). Absent: Tateisha Perry, Elderrean Paules, August DeFrance and Joseph Bibisi Staff Present: Catherine Lechowicz – Director of Recreation and Community Services General Public: none 2. Meeting Called to Order: Called to order at 6:03pm. 3. Public Hearing: 4. Approval of Minutes: A motion to approve the meeting minutes of October 5, 2021, was made by Phil Cacciola and seconded by Richard Pelletier with an amendment stating that “the bus arm that is blocking the accessible parking is not at Palmer field but at the field across from the Beman School on Hunting Hill Ave”. Keith Vinci abstained. The motion carries. Departmental Reports:  Richard Pelletier gave an update on the Beman School and stated that they cancelled the scheduled grand opening which was supposed to be held on November 19, 2021. He also stated that the Restaurant Committee will be meeting the second Wednesday of each month at the building itself. This is not to be confused with the Boat House Committee which August DeFrance is on. A discussion ensued.  Phil Cacciola stated that he wanted to make sure that there is a CCPD representative on the committee for the restaurant which is on 80 Harbor Drive. A discussion ensued regarding the vote today in town. The generator at Monarca Place is moving along. There is an issue with supply and demand in terms of getting the parts that are required.  Keith Vinci stated that the Connecticut Associate of the Deaf has a conference this weekend that will be held virtually. Cathy mentioned that the envelopes in the cars are being rejuvenated. A discussion ensued.  Joe Carta stated that he has nothing to report.  Cathy stated there were no significant ADA issues to report. There was assistance given to someone who is blind who needed paperwork filled out for DSS. We have been focusing on booster shots at the senior center. We are hopeful to get through the list in November. A discussion ensued. Old Business New Business: Miscellaneous:  Phil wanted to remind Public Works Department to make sure that the cut outs are clear of snow for accessibility as we approach winter. A discussion ensued.  Cathy stated that one of the items on the Charter Revision is term limits for commissions. A discussion ensued. Adjournment: A motion of adjournment was made by Richard Pelletier and was seconded by Phil Cacciola. The motion carried unanimously. The meeting adjourned at 6:14 pm.
