COMMITTEE CONCERNING PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES MEETING MINUTES City of Middletown 61 Durant Terrace April 2, 2024 6:00 PM 1. Members Present: Marty Knight/Chairperson, Phil Cacciola, Laurie McFadden, Keith Vinci, Richard Pelletier Absent: Joe Bibisi, Molly Carta Staff Present: Catherine Lechowicz – Director of Recreation and Community Services General Public: none 2. Meeting Called to Order: Called to order at 6:03pm. 3. Public Hearing: none 4. Approval of Minutes: A motion to approve the meeting minutes of March 5, 2024, was made by Phil Cacciola and seconded by Keith Vinci. Keith Vinci stated that in the March minutes there was a correction to be made. The public hearing meeting will be a one stop shop for deaf and deaf blind persons. The motion carries. Departmental Reports:  Laurie McFadden has nothing to report at this time.  Richard Pelletier stated that the multiple school committee has approved 1 roof and the electric for another roof is on its way to being approved. The track and field will start as soon as the school year ends. The restaurant kitchen is being set up now. A discussion ensued  Phil Cacciola asked how voting went for Marty. Marty stated that everything went well. Phil stated that they moved the Wesleyan voting poll station to the American Legion on Washington Street. A discussion ensued.  Keith Vinci stated that they are waiting on the legislature to vote. Prior to getting an administrator and staff people the bureau needs to be set up. A discussion ensued.  Cathy Lechowicz stated that the Russell Library will be holding focus groups the following week to get input from the community regarding renovations or building a new library. There is also a survey going around regarding the same issue. The Recreation Center continues to be a polling station while South Fire is having construction. This is a temporary situation. Cathy sent an email to Laurie McFadden and Roger from the Parking Department to set up a walk-through of the sidewalks to address certain issues at certain locations. Also, Cathy reached out to the Mayor with some appointments for the Committee that will go before the Common Council. The person can be any party affiliation. There was a discussion about the proposed budget. Old Business: New Business: Miscellaneous: Adjournment: A motion of adjournment was made by Phil Cacciola and was seconded by Richard Pelletier.
