COMPLETE STREETS COMMITTEE CITY OF MIDDLETOWN April 13, 2020 Meeting Minutes In attendance: Cat Young, Laura Baum, Lisa Liesener, John Hall, Steve Banks, Beth Emery, Deb Stanley, Joseph Samolis, Emmy Brockman Meeting called to order at 7:10 PM. Review of minutes of March 2020 meeting: Approval tabled until next meeting as these were not available in time for this meeting. Reports: Middletown Health and Wellness Committee Meeting: Laura Baum will attend next scheduled meeting. Planning and Zoning: Beth Emery will attend the next scheduled meeting on 4/22/20. Ongoing business: Bike Friendly Middletown Application: Spearheaded by Catherine Young and Catherine Xi. Have begun application. At this meeting we went through the “Community Scorecard” section of the application, which is used to assess bike-friendliness of our city and answered the questions collectively. Bike/ped Coordinator Position: Letter was sent to Mayor Florsheim with CS Committee recommendations for the job duties this position should entail. Plan of Conservation and Development: Ongoing. Nothing new to report. New business: Arrigoni Bridge Project: Mayor has been asked for a meeting with the CS Committee. The Common Council has approved the formation of an Arrigoni Bridge Project Committee. John Hall asked Joe Samolis if the City of Middletown has the power to make changes to this project. According to Samolis, even though construction is underway, there is still time for change orders to be made, should modifications be necessary. Construction is expected to continue until December. John Hall expressed concern about the relationship between the City and the DOT. Beth Emery sent a copy of Signing and Pavement Markings Plan to CS Members for St. John’s Square area with markup for additional bike/pedestrian safety. Meeting adjourned at 8:40 PM.
