COMPLETE STREETS COMMITTEE CITY OF MIDDLETOWN August 10th, 2020 Meeting Minutes In attendance: Lisa Liesener, John Hall, Cat Young, Laura Baum, Beth Emery Meeting called to order at 7:05 PM via WebEx meeting. Review of minutes of July 2020 meetings: These were not available. Reports: John Hall presented a statement he will present to the Public Works and Facilities Commission at their meeting this coming Wednesday 8/12/2020. He recommends the City expand the contract with the engineering firm to explore further routes for the multi-use trail including along Newfield Street as the originally-proposed “preferred” route poses numerous challenges including its difficulty to construct due to proximity to wetlands as well as the number of property easements that would need to be obtained for this route. After discussion, it was agreed that the Complete Streets Committee would make their own statement about this project in agreement with John’s statement as amended by suggestions made by committee members. Ongoing business: Bike Friendly Middletown Application: Cat Young met with all stakeholders and was able to break the project down into sections that are to be completed by each department/project partner. A follow-up meeting will be held in 2 weeks. Plan of Conservation and Development: no updates New business: Next meeting scheduled for Sept. 14th, 2020.
