LOCATION: COUNCIL CHAMBERS, CITY HALL Start: 6:07 PM End: 6:54 PM In attendance: Brian Kronenberger, Christina Wasch, Maria Madsen Holzberg, Marilyn Mills, Jammie Middleton. Staff: Marek Kozikowski, Director. Seven members of the public were present. 1. Call to Order 1.1. Election of Officers Motion to nominate Brian Kronenberger as board chair. Made by Holzberg; seconded by Wasch. Motion passed: 5-0 2. Public Comment for Items on the Agenda None. 3. Old Business 3.1. Exterior Alterations to the structure at 133 South Main Street. Thomas Hutton/MWH Associates, LLC. SE2022-14 Thomas Hutton Jr. presented the application. He went over the details of the front porch of where he left the framing and the roof and renovated them. The bottom was concrete with old brick and mortar was replaced with a concreate block. A back vestibule bump out was constructed for the benefit of the new tenant. Motion to approve as submitted. Made by Mills; seconded by Holzberg. Motion passed: 5-0 3.2. Discussion on proposed additions and modifications to the building at 56 Hamlin Street. Joseph Banks. Joseph Banks of Wesleyan University initiation discussion on proposed additions and modification to the building. Jason Forney, Architect presented the modifications moving through the various sections of the building. Page 1 of 2 4. New Business 4.1. Discussion on the demolition of 5 homes located at 151-171 Vine Street. Joseph Banks. Joseph Banks of Wesleyan University initiation discussion on the proposal to demolish five existing homes on Vine Street. The homes are vacant and do not fit into the university’s plans as they are far down the hill and somewhat isolated from the rest of campus. A discussion ensued. One of the buildings was significantly older and warranted investigation as suggested by the Middlesex Historical Society. 4.2. Review of proposed free-standing sign at 24 Old Church Street. Robert Lee/W.M.S. Church of God. SPR2023-22 Robert Lee presented the proposal for the free standing sign in front of the church. Motion to approve as with the condition that the internal illumination is limited to the logo and letters. Made by Holzberg; seconded by Wasch. Motion passed: 5-0 5. Minutes 5.1. Minutes of the September 14, 2022 meeting 5.2. Minutes of the November 9, 2022 meeting No action. 6. Public Comment for Items Not on the Agenda 7. Adjournment The meeting adjourned at 6:54 pm.
