Downtown Business District Meeting Minutes Wednesday, May 30, 2018 330 Main Street, Suite 200 Middletown, CT. Attendees: Marie Kalita Leary (Chair) Cathy Duncan (Chamber of Commerce) Diane Gervais (Commissioner) Sean Moriarity (Police Department) Marc Levin (Commissioner) Tom Marano – (Planning Department) Mike DiPiro (Commissioner) Brendan Kelly(Harding Development) Mary Ann Perrotti (Commissioner) Trevor Davis (Commercial Real Estate) Jennifer Alexander (Commissioner) Emily Ford (Leasing Mgr.Hajjar Development) Tom Ford (Commissioner) Lisa Melaven (DBD Office) Police Report – Sean Moriarty Sean reports the Memorial Day parade went well. The police department is gearing up for Cruise Night on Wednesday, June 13th. With the warmer weather police department is aware of soliciting, panhandling and loitering being on the rise. Public Works – None Parking Report – None Planning- Tom Marano Tom Marano reports things are on task.  Fed Ex is on time, Looking for C.O. July 1st and October 1st to begin operations.  Two of the city’s census track/north end (54-16, 54-11) received the Federal opportunities zone designation. Tax incentive with investors that have unrealized capital gains.  The location of the new medical marijuana dispensaries, still to be determined. Health Department – None Chamber of Commerce – Cathy Duncan Cathy reports Cruise night is Wednesday, June 13th, rain date of Wednesday, June 20th.  Member Luncheon and Book Signing- Joanne Lipman, Chief Content Officer, Gannet& Former Editor in Chief, USA Today and USA Today Network – “That’s What She Said – What Men Need to Know(And Women Need To Tell Them) About Working Together” – Sponsored by DATTCO, Monday May 30th at the Red Lion from 11:30.m. -1:00p.m  Annual Awards Dinner – Wednesday, June 6th at the Red Lion Hotel at 5:30 p.m.  Central Business Bureau (CBB) – Thursday June 7th hosted by Harding Development Group at 8:00a.m.  The Middlesex Chamber of Commerce breakfast - Keynote speaker Keegan Bradley, PGA Tour Professional at the Red Lion Hotel on Tuesday, June 19th from 7:00 to 9:00 a.m. - Middlesex County Career Fair, starting at 11:00am  Business after work - Monday June 11th hosted by Mattabesett Canoe Club from 5:00-7:00pm. Minutes –  Motion to approve made by Marc Levin  2nd by Mary Ann Perrotti  Minutes accepted.  Amendment made; Tom Ford was present DBD monthly meeting on Wednesday, April 25 th meeting. Treasurer’s report – Mike DiPiro Mike reports the fiscal year is looking good.  Motion to approve by Marc Levin  2nd by Maryann Perrotti  Financials accepted Board Member Update – Marie Kalita Leary  The spring/summer 2018 edition of our downtown brochure will be printed on Saturday, June 2 nd.  Gift Card Holder – Approve 5,000 copies printed  Motion to approve by Jen Alexander  2nd by Marc Levin  Gift Card Holder approved  Marc reports the 12 downtown commercials are running through June on Channels 3 & 8.  The week of June 18th our 42 planters will be planted with a variety summer flowers.  Jen Alexander is working on marketing and social media for the downtown. Jen will be asking Fred to keep up the miscellaneous work needed in keeping our downtown looking good.  Tom Ford reports sidewalk cleaning once a week is going well. RJ Health Systems moved from Rocky Hill to 237 Main Street. New “Paint Bar” moving into 120 College Street. (Old Capricorn Florist) New Business – Emily Ford, Leasing Manager for Midd-Town Apartments reports, the model apartments (1 bedroom, 2 bedroom and Studio) will be ready June 13th for touring. Official start date scheduled for September 1st; Grand opening set for end of August. Brenden Kelly reports Coughlin and Coughlin will be closing their business effective June 1 st. Kelly Travers will be the new owner of Fusion Bakery as of June 1 st.  Motion to adjourn by Marc Levin  2nd by Tom Ford  Adjourn accepted
