Wednesday, June 19, 2019 at 5 p.m.

Attendance: Atty. Ralph Wilson, Councilman Sebastian Giuliano, Veterans: Larry Riley and Phil Cacciola,
Carl Rodenhizer, Chief Real Estate Officer Columbus House, and Vinnie Loffredo, community member.
Meeting called to order by Atty. Ralph Wilson at 5:05 p.m.
Public Session: No members of the public attended.
Introductory Remarks
Atty. Wilson reviewed the history of the conversion of Shepherd Home into the 32 apartment units for
veterans, the Comprehensive Development and Land Disposition Agreement including Article IV
Section 4.7 Citizens Board (aka Shepherd Home Veterans’ Citizens) Advisory Committee), the role of the
project developer, Columbus House and the service provider, DeMarco Management Corporation.
The initial discussion of the conversion of Shepherd Home began in 2016.
Election of Officers
The committee voted to elect: Atty. Ralph Wilson, Chairperson; Larry Riley, Vice Chairperson; and,
Vinnie Loffredo, Secretary.
Discussion
The members discussed many issues including the role of the committee as advocates for the resident
veterans, helping to connect them with the Middletown community, working with Columbus House and
DeMarco Management and maintaining the mission of the facility as housing for veterans.
Future Committee Meetings
The committee voted to meet on a monthly basis. Meetings will be held on the third Wednesday of
each month commencing on August 21 at 5 p.m. These meetings will be held at the Shepherd Home,
112 Bow Lane in the ground level meeting room.
Reports
Carl Rodenhizer reported that as of June 19, 2019, 26 veterans had moved in, 2 were scheduled
to move in on Friday, June 21 and 4 applications were being reviewed.
