Shepherd Home Advisory Committee MINUTES (REVISED) February 9, 2022 5:00 Location: Shepherd Home Conference Room or Zoom video Those in Attendance: Col. Phil Cacciola, Chair; Deputy Mayor Vinnie Loffredo, Vice-Chair; Atty. Ralph Wilson, Atty. Seb Giuliano, Larry Riley, Veteran; Christine Garriga, DeMarco; Carl Rodenhizer, Columbus House Phil opened the meeting at 5:00. Minutes of the January 12, 2022 meeting were approved as presented. Elks Gift. Bill Cullen presented a $2,000 gift, on behalf of the Middletown Elks Club. Pictures were taken and Carl is to provide an acknowledgment letter. There are no specific requirements for spending the gift. We have discussed having the monies targeted toward Bike storage for a repair program that Mayce has been proposing. Ralph also suggested looking into the barn to the north on CVH property. A request for the balance sheet to identify cash for gifts surfaced. Occupancy Christine reports there is only one vacancy currently. She has one applicant that is being vetted. She has four additional applicants on the waitlist. Tenant issues None to note. All reports are that the community is quiet. We have some individual issues related to substance abuse, but the community-wide problems have ended. COVID19 We have had one positive Covid case that has been isolated. Fortunately, thanks to preventative efforts by DeMarco and help from the health department we appear to be getting through the pandemic with minimal effect Building issues Specs are still being developed for the roof. Other development We discussed using the property to the north for families, offices, or homeless veterans. Vinnie is to connect with the Mayor’s office to get municipal support.
