Russell Library Board of Trustees Retreat Olin Library, Develin Room (252 Church Street) Saturday, January 12, 2019 9:00 AM Present: Trustees Becker, Berlind, Duggan, Hadley, Murdock, Nelson, Russell, Wisneski, and Zawisky; Library Director Burkey; Assistant Director for Public Services Dattilo; Assistant Director for Administrative Services Doyle ; Mike Bums of BWB Solutions Excused: Trustee Norwood I. Call to order: Acting president wisneski called the meeting to order at 9:05 a.in. 2. Public session/Comment: There were no members of the public present. 3. Retreat: Library Director Ramona Burkey welcomed those in attendance, with thanks to Trustee Hadley and to Wesleyan University for the use of the Develin Rom in Olin Library. She then introduced Mike Bums of BWB Solutions. After introductions in which each attendee told a brief "why libraries" story, Facilitator Bums led the group though a review of board governance, fiduciary duty, and the by-laws of the Russell Library Company and the structure of its Board of Trustees. 4. Adjournment: It was moved (Trustee Berlind) and seconded (Trustee Duggan) to adjourn the meeting at 12:20 p.in. The motion passed unanimously.
