REGULAR MEETING OF THE ZONING BOARD OF APPEALS MIDDLETOWN CONNECTICUT MARCH 1, 2018 1. CALL TO ORDER Jonathan Pulino opened the meeting with the Pledge of Allegiance 2 ROLL CALL Present: Jonathan Pulino Gary Middleton Dina Ford Kevin Brignole (seated for Linda Reil) Nick Ficaro (seated for Judy Pehota) Absent: Linda Reil Judy Pehota Brandon Chafee Staff: Joseph Samolis, Director of Planning, Conservation and Development ANNUAL ORGANIZATIONAL MEETING – ELECTION OF OFFICERS: Pursuant to Connecticut General Statutes §8-5, only regular members vote a. Chairperson Gary Middletown nominated himself for Chairman. Nick Ficaro seconded. Jonathan Pulino asked if there were any other nominations. Seeing none, Dina Ford motioned to close the nominations and was seconded by Gary Middletown. Motion passed unanimously. A vote taken to approve the nomination of Gary Middletown as Chair was approved unanimously. Chairman Middletown moved to the Chair’s seat. b. Vice-Chair The Chair asked for nominations for two (2) co-chairs. Jon Pulino nominates Dina Ford and himself as vice-chairs. The chair seconds both nominations. Since there were no other nominations, the Chair asked for a motion to close nominations. Jon Pulino made a motion to close nominations, seconded by Dina Ford. Motion passed unanimously. A vote was taken to approve the nomination of Dina Ford as Vice-Chair. Vote was approved unanimously. A vote was taken to approve the nomination of Jonathan Pulino as Vice-Chair and was approved unanimously. c. Secretary The position of Secretary is still in the by-laws and the Chair asked if anyone would like to make a motion to hold off on voting for Secretary until the by-laws have been revised. Jonathan Pulino made the motion. Dina Ford seconded the motion. The Chair called for the vote. It was unanimously approved. 3. APPROVAL OF MINUTES - November 2, 2017 Regular Meeting Minutes A motion to accept the minutes was moved by Dina Ford. Jonathan Pulino seconded the motion. Motion passed unanimously. 4. OLD BUSINESS None 5. NEW BUSINESS Joe Samolis introduced Michelle Ford, former Planning and Environmental Specialist and now the new ZEO/WEO. She will take the position of staff at all future meetings. 6. PUBLIC HEARING None 7. ADJOURNMENT Jon Pulino moved to adjourn at 5:40 PM. Dina Ford seconded the motion. All in favor.
