Roll Call The meeting convened at 4:04 PM Individual also present: Sally Witte, Department of City Development Present 9 - Murphy, DeLind, McSweeney, Morris, Fraker, Murphy, Harpole, Klose and Garcia Excused 7 - Kingsbury, Flores, Kosarzycki, Kovac, Layden, Balistreri and Hill 2. Review and Approval of Previous Meeting Minutes Ms. Morris moved approval of the minutes, seconded by Ms. Klose. There were no objections. 3. Public Art Subcommittee Report - Recommendations for Conservation Fund Grants Ms. Morris gave an updated on the Bells of Milwaukee, Inc and the Westown Association George Washington statue. The Westown Association will be returning for the July cycle. She added that 11 applications were received by the New Work Fund. 4. Grants Update - Application Eligiblity Determination Sally Witte stated 43 applications for project grants were received, 5 of which are new applicants. One was disqualified because it was postmarked past the deadline. The Milwaukee County Historical Society and Wisconsin Lutheran College were reviewed for eligibility. It was determined that Milwaukee County Historical Society was not an eligible organization because it does not have “as its sole mission the presentation and/or production of art or arts programming.” It was determined that City of Milwaukee Page 1 MILWAUKEE ARTS BOARD Meeting Minutes March 14, 2017 Wisconsin Lutheran College Percussion Department qualifies under the guidelines because it is a “department with the sole mission of the presentation and/or production of art or arts programming.” 5. Review Process for Artists of the Year and Friends of the Arts Nominations Sally Witte requested nominations with contact information be submitted to her by March 28th. 6. Old Business There was no old business. 7. Announcements In the event that Common Council members who are not members of this committee attend this meeting, this meeting may also simultaneously constitute a meeting of the Common Council or any of the following committees: Community and Economic Development, Finance and Personnel, Judiciary and Legislation, Licenses, Public Safety, Public Works, Zoning, Neighborhoods & Development, and/or Steering and Rules. Whether a simultaneous meeting is occurring depends on whether the presence of one or more of the Common Council member results in a quorum of the Common Council or any of the above committees, and, if there is a quorum of another committee, whether any agenda items listed above involve matters within that committee’s realm of authority. In the event that a simultaneous meeting is occurring, no action other than information gathering will be taken at the simultaneous meeting. Limited parking for persons attending meetings in City Hall is available at reduced rates (5 hour limit) at the Milwaukee Center on the southwest corner of East Kilbourn and North Water Street. Parking tickets must be validated in the first floor Information Booth in City Hall. Persons engaged in lobbying as defined in s. 305-43-4 of the Milwaukee Code of Ordinances are required to register with the City Clerk's Office License Division.
