Roll Call The meeting convened at 3:03 PM Individual also present: Sally Witte, Department of City Development Present 4 - McSweeney, Morris, Murphy and Klose Excused 1 - Layden 2. Review and Approval of Previous Meeting Minutes Mr. Murphy moved approval of the minutes of March 8, 2016, seconded by Ms. Morris. There were no objections. 3. New Work Fund Stacey Williams-Ng gave the presentation of the Black Cat Alley Project. The project will be installed between the Oriental Theater and Ma Fischer's Restaurant. Artists will include: 1 international, 3 national, 5 from the Milwaukee area, and 2 college students. Events will occur in July and September. There is a lot of community support for the artwork. The project is high impact and low cost. The total cost will be approximately $70,000, and $10,000 in kind donations have been pledged so far. Ms. Morris stated she is waiting for a budget update on Turtle Island from the artist. Ms. Morris stated the total amount available in the New Work Fund is $22,500. She stated she is less inclined to fund the Riverworks Project because they just received funding. Ms. Klose moved to fund the Haggerty Museum project at $11,000. There were no objections. Mr. Murphy moved to fund the Friends of the Hank Aaron State Trail project at $7,500. There were no objections. Ms. McSweeney moved to fund the Black Cat Alley project at $3,750 for the local artists. There were no objections. 4. Conservation Fund Churchill Caruthers gave the presentation regarding the 5 Points Neighborhood Association. The goal is to preserve the historic aspects of the neighborhood. The want to preserve artifacts from the Artery and historic signs from razed buildings. The plan is to build a structure on a lot that is currently leased to display the artifacts. Mr. Caruthers added that $500 was awarded from Safe & Sound, Victory Garden City of Milwaukee Page 1 MILWAUKEE ARTS BOARD PUBLIC Meeting Minutes April 12, 2016 ART SUBCOMMITTEE awarded 10 trees, and addtional applications are pending. Ms. Klose recommended contacting NIDC for additional funding sources. 5. Old Business Ms. Morris stated the Walker's Point Center for the Arts is now the fiscal receiver for the Temporary Resurfacing project that was awarded $2,500 from the New Work Fund. 6.
