The meeting convened at 3:04 PM

2. Review and Approval of Previous Meeting Minutes
Ms. Layden moved approval, seconded by Ms. McSweeney. There were no
objections.
3. New Work Fund
Ms. Layden briefed members on the progress of Near West Side artist in residence
Kirsten Leenaars as she completes the Haggerty-commissioned project
Happiness-Home-Milwaukee: (Re) Housing the American Dream. An exhibition of
Leenaar’s three-channel video installation opens this fall at the museum.
Ms. Morris updated the members on the progress of the Fr. Groppi Memorial Project.
There are still discussions about where to put the statue and community meetings
continue.
Following recommendations were made to be presented at the full Arts Board:
Ms. Layden moved that a susccessful applicant to the New Work Fund needs to wait
a full calendar year after the conclusion of their project to apply again to the New
Work Fund, seconded by Ms. McSweeney. There were no objections.
Ms. Layden moved in any calendar year an arts organization can only apply to the
New Work Fund or to the Project Grants Program, seconded by Ms. Klose. There
were no objections.
4. Conservation Fund
Ms. Morris stated the new application went out and the Friends of Juneau Park are
submitting applications for restoration the statues of Solomon Juneau and Leif the
Explorer. They are currently getting national bids for the work. She sent an
application to the Milwaukee Black Historical Society for the mural, and the Society

has received a grant from the Mary Nohl Foundation.
