CITY OF MINERAL POINT BICENTENNIAL COMMITTEE MEETING Monday, November 17, 2025 – 6:00 PM Chamber Office Agenda: 1. Call to Order, Roll Call (Mike Christensen, Lauren Powers, Cory Bennett, Bethany Brander, Mary Glindinning, Christina Kubasta, Matthew Payne) 2. Approve Minutes from Oct 16 meeting – Lauren moved, Cory seconded, motion passed unanimously. 3. Status of website, calendar: a. Cory will have it published before our January meeting 4. Anthology update: a. Frank provided his report ahead of time. Progress is strong. Frank is thinking 200 pages. There are 50 ready to publish contributions and dozens of leads ahead. Matthew suggested that we take preorders for organizations who would like to sell their own copies. 5. Governor/State Rep invite update a. Tony Evers: will wait until after next year’s election to invite the new governor b. Jill Underly: State Superintendent of Schools – Mike will reach out (lives in Hollandale, has MP connections) c. Ron Johnson: will not commit until January 2027 d. Marc Pocan: Christina will reach out to his office e. Tammy Baldwin: invited, no response yet f. Novak & Marklein: up for reelection next year, so will wait until after election, just like Governor’s office 6. Slogan: Cut from Stone, Built By Community 7. Suggested parameters for logo (black and white): a. Mining b. Railroad c. Agriculture d. Art e. Pointer Dog f. Chisel/masonry tools g. Industry h. Stone architecture i. Historic Preservation j. Water tower k. Community/family l. Pendarvis, Orchard Lawn Set parameters for 2” coin: m. Logo on one side with slogan wrapped around edge n. 1827 – 2027 / Mineral Point Bicentennial wrapped around edge o. Utilize elements mentioned above not used in logo Christina will share with Mr. Hadfield for a spring semester project. Committee will review options in April/May 2026 at the latest. Cory will utilize chamber intern for design work as well. 8. City Decorations, projection on water tower - tabled 9. Time capsule - tabled 10. Business Sponsorships & Grant Opportunities a. Thanks to the Board Shoppe, for every bicentennial coaster they sell, they will donate to this committee starting this weekend. Starting in 2026, they will be donating $2-3 for each bicentennial cutting board they sell. Thank you, Board Shoppe! b. Cory noted other communities celebrating 200 years are seeing significant pledges from their respective cities. This group feels strongly that the city should include some funds for the celebration in the 2027 budget. c. Christina reports that the Pocan office is helping to look for funding at state and federal levels, specifically from the Evers administration. Pocan’s office also said that funding is easier for material items instead of programming (decorations, coin, anthology, etc.) 11. Set timeline for project completion for January 2027 - tabled 12. Next steps in updating/communicating with community orgs – will complete at December meeting 13. Set next meeting time & adjourn a. December 16 at 6:00 at Chamber office i. Refining a publication to city, newspaper, and representatives of other groups ii. Tentative January meeting with representatives from local organizations set for January 20 at 6:00 at City Hall, pending City Hall availability (Mike to check on availability) iii.
