Motion (Allendorf/Weier) to approve March 10, 2025 minutes. Motion carried, all voting aye (3-0).
DISCUSSION AND CONSIDERATION OF AMENDING CHAPTER 73 OF THE MUNICIPAL ORDINANCE
RELATED TO THE PLACEMENT OF STOP SIGNS AT THE INTERSECTION OF WILLIAM STREET AND SHAKE
RAG STREET.
The Ordinance and Claims Committee met on March 10 regarding the placement of stop signs at the
intersection of Williams and Shake Rag St. At that time the issue was tabled and more information about
different options was going to be explored.
A petition signed by 47 residents, many from William, Shake Rag, Harris, and Olson Streets, requesting a
stop sign (rightturn no stop) for southbound Shake Rag St. traffic at the intersection of William St. was
presented to Council in May.
Alderman Allendorf stated that he kept a tally in his car everytime he drove through the intersection
(500 times total). He counted everytime he met someone at the intersection. Only two times he met
someone else at the intersection. He appreciates public concern and public safety, but he doesn’t see
an issue.
Officer Schrank observed 2-3 cars within 2 hours in this area. Chief Weier stated Schrank did not witness
any violations or see any kids.
Tom McGuire states he spends spring and summers down there and spends sees a lot of traffic.
Alderman Allendorf believes this is a speed enforcement issue, not a stop sign issue.
Motion (Ramshur) to recommend Council approval of amending Chapter 73 of the Municipal
Ordinance related to the placement of stop signs at the intersection of William Street and Shake Rag
Street, to be a three-way stop. Motion fails.
