DISCUSSION AND POSSIBLE CONSIDERATION OF TENNIS AND PICKLEBALL COURT FUNDRAISING PLAN AND PROJECT
UPDATE.
The tennis and pickleball group have committed to raising $100,000 toward this project.
Aaron Dunn presented the plan for fundraising. He stated that there are potential options to attract large donors.
They are trying to avoid placing large business signs along the fence to the courts. They are hoping that donors would
be open to the idea of having their name or business listed on a plaque or kiosk at the entrance of the courts. With
approval, they would be willing to name the entire complex after a donor who may give a sizable donation toward the
project. The group intends to have the funds raised by the end of the calendar year.
The city will know in the fall if the DNR grant is awarded. The city is committed to completing this project if awarded
the grant.
The grant would be responsible for $356,000.
Motion (Allendorf/Ingwell) to authorize donor signs for courts not to exceed 2’x4’, per court, and have the kiosk
brought to the Park Board for approval. Motion carried, all voting aye (6-0).
UPDATE ON OTHER PARK MATTERS
The city is looking to replace some of the bathroom stalls at the pool house. This year, paper towel dispensers and
mirrors were replaced.
The pool house has a lot of old swim trophies. The city will post online for anyone who may be interested.
The city is hoping for construction of the Cornish Heritage Park to be completed this year.
The Park Board would like to look into spraying weeds at the parks. Administrator Honer will get quotes for this.
DISCUSSION OF FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS
None.
ADJOURNMENT
Motion (Engelke/Gratz) to adjourn at 5:11 PM. Motion carried, all voting aye (6-0).
