RECYCLING AD HOC COMMITTEE May 5, 2016 5:00 pm Page 1 Committee Members Present: Julie Haro, John Reynolds, Miranda Schuler, Dave Schwengler, Jason Sorenson, Shannon Straight Members Absent Borgi Beeler, Kevin Connole, Dave Shomento, Sean Weeks Others Present: Kelly Matalka, Nancy Simpson, Josh Wolsky, Jill Schramm Chairperson Schuler brought the meeting to order at 5:00 pm Review and Accept Minutes Dave Schwengler moved to approve the minutes from the April 21, 2016 Recycling meeting, seconded by Shannon Straight and motion carried. Public Presentation Chairperson Schuler asked if any electronics were needed for the presentation to which Mr. Sorenson responded by saying he would work with the Public Information Officer to get it set up. Mr. Schwengler said he could have full size posters printed and the group determined which graphics would be the most beneficial to display. Mr. Reynolds said he would bring the 95 gallon and 68 gallon bins along with sand bags to replicate the weight of a full bin. Mr. Straight asked if they could demonstrate an educational program but it was decided that project would need to be competitively bid and they should not show favoritism toward one specific program. Chairperson Schuler said that after the open house from 6:30-7:00, she would do a brief introduction and Mr. Sorenson could show his presentation. He ran through the PowerPoint for the committee and took advice from their comments including what to emphasize, what videos to add and verifying statistics. After the presentation there would be an opportunity to answer questions or those in attendance could write questions and comments on notecards to be addressed at a later time. Chairperson Schuler stated it is important to get feedback from citizens and wants them to know it has not been solidified in the budget yet. Since this is still a planning phase they want to work out details with the input from the community. The meeting was concluded by chairperson Schuler after she stated, committee members are welcome to help set up for the public meeting at 6:00 p.m. Adjournment There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 5:47 p.m. Respectfully Submitted, Kelly Matalka City Clerk
