City Council

Members Present: Sipma, Jantzer, Podrygula, Straight, Wolsky, and Pitner Members Absent: Olson The Souris River Joint Board and the City of Minot held a Public Input Meeting for the Mouse River Enhanced Flood Protection Project Phase MI-5 Northeast Tieback Levee. The meeting took place at the Roosevelt Elementary School and began with an Open House at 6:30 p.m. and Formal Presentation at 7:00 p.m. David Ashley, with the Souris River John Board, began with an introduction at 7:08 p.m. explaining the importance of everyone’s attendance. He explained a presentation will be given and after, comment cards will be handed out. Mr. Ashley requested comment cards to be filled out and to either leave them at the meeting or to contact Mark Lyman with Odney Advertising. The comment cards will be used to consider changes/modifications to the proposed plan that has been presented to City Council. Jerry Bents, from Houston Engineering, began his presentation with a background of the 2011 Flood and how we arrived to this phase of the Flood Protection Plan. Mr. Bents reviewed and gave details for the proposed plan showing area maps and aerial photos. (The presentation is attached.) Mr. Bents expressed the importance of completing a comment card and urged the attendees to take one. Members of the public were invited to complete the comment cards and contact Mark Lyman with Odney Advertising who will come personally to residents and pick the cards up.
