CALL TO ORDER
Chair de Lorimier called the meeting to order at 4:19 p.m.
ROLL CALL
PRESENTATIONS
1. Artifact Specialist Brianna Schwerling presented on the City Art collection and the shift to
CatalogIT for asset management.
2. Library & Museums Director Edwards presented on the Fund Development role for the City,
and discussed that the Monterey Public Library Friends & Foundation (MPLFF) will be hiring
a contract person for this role. The MPLFF is discussing the next roles and who to choose
for the role. Edwards and the MPLFF are working on a fundraising letter to send in August
2025.

Action: Received and discussed. Trustees appreciated the level of programs and work
being completed by Library staff.

6. Approve 2026 Library Holiday and Closure Schedule (Not a Project under CEQA per Article 20,

Meeting Minutes
Action: Received and approved with a 4-0 vote. The Chocolate & Wine date was not
confirmed by MPLFF, but will be reported at a future meeting.
TRUSTEE COMMENTS
Trustee Joshi – Appreciated seeing the VITA tax assistance program coming
Chair deLorimier – Attended City Council to speak about the Library and NCIP
Trustee Moroh – Saw the MC Weekly article about the “Baby Rave” and thought it was creative
Trustee Silveria – None
LIBRARY DIRECTOR COMMENTS
Thanked the staff for hosting Library programs for all ages and for Brianna Schwerling for
presenting at the meeting.
ADJOURNMENT
Seeing no further business to come before the Board of Library Trustees, Chair de Lorimier
adjourned the meeting at 5:35 p.m.

PUBLIC COMMENT PROCEDURES AND TIME LIMITS:
The total amount of time allocated for public comment on a particular issue and for each
individual speaker is generally as follows:
1. Up to three minutes per speaker.
2. For regular Board of Library Trustees meetings, there is one 15-minute public comment
period on matters not on the agenda.
3. The total time allocated for public comment:
a. Items pulled from the consent agenda – 15 minutes each item
b. Public Appearance items – 30 minutes each item
c. Public Hearing items – 30 minutes each item
d. Closed Session items – 15 minutes each item
At the time an item is considered, the Chair will ask those attending the meeting in person to
line up at the podium or raise their hands, and for remote participants to use *9 on the telephone
or the “raise hand” function in Zoom, if they wish to address the Board of Library Trustees. The
maximum amount of time for each person to speak and the total amount of time allotted for
each item will be determined based on the number of people indicating an interest in speaking
and the amount of business to be conducted on the agenda. In exceptional circumstances and
when necessary to ensure a full opportunity for public input, the Chair may, with the Board’s
consent, adjust the amount of time allowed for public input and/or the time allotted for each
speaker.

TRUSTEE COMMENTS
Trustees may ask a question for clarification, make a brief announcement, or make a brief
report on their activities. In addition, a Trustee or the Board of Library Trustees may provide a
referral to staff or other resources for factual information. (Government Code section
54954.2(a)(3).)
LIBRARY DIRECTOR COMMENTS
The Library Director may make a brief report on activities or a brief announcement, and may
ask for clarification or direction regarding scheduling of meetings and study sessions.
ADJOURNMENT
“The Board of Monterey Public Library Trustees provides stewardship for Monterey Public Library
assets and services on behalf of all residents, ensures adaptability to a diverse population, changing
environment and advancing technology. Trustees advise the City Council on matters pertaining to the
Library, and advocate on the Library’s behalf, while ensuring an ongoing flow of information between
the Library, the community and the City Council, in accordance with Section 7.1 of the Monterey City
Charter and in support of the mission statement of the Monterey Public Library.”
