CALL TO ORDER
Mayor Della Sala called the meeting to order at 4:00 p.m.
PUBLIC COMMENTS
Mayor Della Sala opened public comments on items not on the agenda. Nina Beatty reported
that the PUC is in Phase II of the opt-out proceedings, and she voiced concerns regarding a
discussion about whether the commission could delegate its authority and a dismissal of
protests without hearings. She asked the City Council to assert the City's rights in this matter.
Having no further requests to speak, Mayor Della Sala closed public comments.
PUBLIC APPEARANCE
1. Receive Report and Update on Development of the City's Property on Former Fort Ord; and,
Direct Staff to Release Request for Qualifications (Plans & Public Works - 203-02)
Action: Received report and scheduled field trip and continued item to July 3, 2012 (4-0-
1; Sollecito absent)
City Manager Meurer introduced the item, and Chief of Planning Rerig presented the staff
report. Councilmember Downey suggested that a site visit for the Council would be appropriate
for this project.
Mayor Della Sala opened public comments on the item. Daniel Dawson, City Manager of Del
Rey Oaks, voiced concerns regarding an agreement made many years ago between his city
and Monterey. He asked Council to have staff contact him regarding this plan. Shirley Winter
Wylly, Central Coast Skating Association, said that her organization is interested in property off
of South Boundary Road to develop a sports area that would house an ice rink. Don Orosco,
developer, said that his organization's offices are located near the CalTrans right of way. He
encouraged Council to offer sale of the property rather than a land lease due to the current
economy. Daniel Dawson reminded Council that 50% of proceeds go to FORA. Having no
further requests to speak, Mayor Della Sala returned the discussion to the dais.
Mayor Della Sala suggested that Council arrange a field trip prior to the July 3 Regular Meeting
and meet at the Rancho Saucito/South Boundary Road intersection at 2:30 p.m.
Councilmember Selfridge asked to have the question in Mr. Peikin's letter answered, and she
agreed with Mr. Dawson that Council should work with Del Rey Oaks. City Manager Meurer
reviewed the questions and answered them, saying that the RFQ give additional information.

Mayor Della Sala suggested continuing this item to the July 3rd City Council meeting and
conducting the field trip just prior to that meeting.
On a motion by Mayor Della Sala, seconded by Councilmember Downey, and carried by the
following vote, the City Council scheduled a field trip for July 3, 2012 at 2:30 p.m. and continued
this item to the July 3, 2012 meeting for a decision on whether to direct staff to release a
Request for Qualifications:

Having no further business to come before the City Council, Mayor Della Sala adjourned the
meeting at 5:04 p.m.

CALL TO ORDER
PUBLIC COMMENTS
PUBLIC COMMENTS allows you, the public, to speak for a maximum of three minutes on any
subject which is within the jurisdiction of the Monterey City Council and which is not on the
agenda. Any person or group desiring to bring an item to the attention of the City Council may do
so by addressing the Council during Public Comments or by addressing a letter of explanation to:
City Clerk, City Hall, Monterey, CA 93940. The appropriate staff person will contact the sender
concerning the details. NOTE: Public Comments are taken during the afternoon session and
continued at the evening session. Individuals may choose to speak once for up to three minutes at
either session, but not both.
PUBLIC APPEARANCE
PUBLIC APPEARANCE items are reports on non-routine issues that might stimulate public
discussion, but that do not require formal noticing as public hearings. You are welcome to offer
your comments after being recognized by the Mayor. The Council may limit the time each speaker
is allocated.

ADJOURNMENT
Members of the public have the right to address the City Council on any item on the Agenda, before or
during its consideration [G.C. §54954.3(a)]. The Mayor will formally open the floor for public comment on
items such as "Public Appearance" and "Public Hearings." If you wish to speak to items in any other
categories, for example "Consent Agenda," please advise the City Clerk or the Mayor prior to the
Council's action on that item, and you will be recognized. Notification as much in advance as possible is
appreciated.
The City Council meeting packet may be reviewed by the public in the Library or the City Clerk's Office.
Any writings or documents pertaining to an open session item provided to a majority of the City Council
less than 72 hours prior to the meeting, shall be made available for public inspection at the front counter
at the City Clerk's Office, Room 6 at City Hall, Madison & Pacific Streets, Monterey, California 93940
during normal business hours
Information distributed to the Council at the Council meeting becomes part of the public record. A copy of
written material, pictures, etc. should be provided for this purpose.
