Approval of the agenda
Public input
Franklin Shiner hosted a program in the late 70s interviewing people who were
important in helping create access for disabled people. He played a clip
describing how some local officials were trying to get around in the area of Elm
and State Streets in wheelchairs and blindfolded.
Alaina Clements spoke about recently moving to Court Street and how the
sidewalks were kept very well this past winter.
Ed Paquin mentioned that there is an issue with a lip on the ramp across the
Pavilion that makes it difficult to get a wheelchair on the ramp.
Will Eberle from Another Way stated that there are major renovations happening
to their building on Barre Street and they’re working on accessibility issues.
Another Way helps people with barriers deal with their issues and succeed
through many programs and classes.
Updates from Committee Members
The committee is being restructed and the word needs to be distributed,
including the Chair seat since Kim is leaving the area. Anyone interested should
talk to Sandy at the City Office to be appointed. The Committee is to give an
annual report to City Council. The report should be worked on while Kim is still
able to provide input.
Donna Barlow Casey has been working on City job descriptions, starting with
DPW. There’s certain positions that require physical attributes such as driving a
truck and lifting heavy weights. She has created a template that meeting
attendees asked to be shared.
Arne from the Rec Department and Thom Wood from the schools were not in
attendance to give updates on their progress.
People need to be aware of the bike path extension and the reworking of the
intersection by Shaw’s.
Arne came into the meeting during the Shaw’s discussion.
The City’s website is being updated.
Arne reported that they are working on a few grants to help with the Rec
Building.
