Meeting Minutes of the Montpelier Conservation Commission January 10, 2013 Attendees: Geoff Beyer, Jeanie Williams, Erik Escelstyn, Alex Hoffmeier, Shawn White, Meghan Hoyne- Wingate, Chris Hilke, Roy Schiff, Drew DeVitis (VISTA/Planning)  Minutes approved  Tree grate $1600  Note that this is Erik’s last meeting. Thanks for the many years of service Erik. We will keep the City fountain idea in the back of our heads moving forward.  Wetland map updates o Reviewed proposals  West – Municipal rate, no ground trothing, restoration map seems expensive, report and presentation  Arrowood – Who does mapping? Photo layers used?  Request for another proposal and seek from Brett Engstrom o Would like buffer on future map for planning and resource protection o Would like to look at map examples o Check in with Gwen on importance of map  Berlin Pond o Fishing access project timeline unknown  Conservation Fund Guidelines o Interest of City is preferred language than within City o A poster explaining changes would be helpful  Open space statistics survey o Meghan to check with stats teacher o Roy to follow up o Jeannie and Chris to help craft questions o Geoff to send out last survey  Strategic Plan o Interest in seeing it to see if we can pull some conservation priorities. o Roy to send plan around  Conservation Priorities o Water availability is key City issue o Check other states / towns o Paul Markowitz with past Berlin Pond efforts  Planning Commission attendance o Jan 14th – Alex / Chris o Jan 28th - Shawn  SUMMARY OF TASKS o Karen: minutes post on web o Meghan: stats survey o Roy: Conservation fund guidelines edits to group, send out MCC strategic plan, wetland mapping quotes follow up.
