Montpelier Conservation Commission Minutes March 12, 2015 Attendees: Chris Hilke, JD Fox, Geoff Beyer, James Brady, Emily Byrne, Charles Hohn, Jeff Schuman, John Jose, Roy Schiff  February minutes approved  Mission Updated The Montpelier Conservation Commission (MCC) seeks to strengthen the relationship between people and nature in order to involve residents in the protection and enhancement of the City’s natural environment. The Commission is charged with advising the Planning Commission, City Council, and other city officials on issues concerning Montpelier’s natural resources.  Parks / MCC VISTA gone. Budgeted salary gone as well.  Move forward with wetland mapping of City o Approved Brett Engstrom’s low bid proposal. o Will need to re-visit since old. o Roy to call.  Conservation Fund Review o Re-activate committee o Geoff to ask Parks commission for volunteer o Roy to contact Aaron Brondyke  Target Resource Overlay District (TROD) Review o Went over tiers and layers o Recommend extracting developed areas and protected areas to analyze just land in play o According to last meeting, may want to go with wetlands and buffers for now. Slopes could be site-specific development requirements rather than elimination of all lands for potential use. o Maybe a side-by side map comparison would be good. o James to take layers and keep working with resource display. o M1 important. Keep in tier 1. o Email PDF layers to group.  Conservation Survey Sheet Review o Passed around sheets and made notes. o Need to lead with questions to make more understandable. o Language is clunky. o Bar graphs maybe for better presentation. o Use more quotes. o Emily to make new sample sheet for group to review.
