Montpelier Energy Advisory Committee August 18, 2015 City Hall's Memorial Room Present: Dan Jones, Barry McPhee, Dan Costin, Tim Shea, Kate Stephenson, Becky Wigg, Barbara Conrey, Elise from EAN, Linda McGinnis from EAN, Ken Jones, Anne Watson, Paul Markowitz Started at 7:10pm Minutes Barry requested that we change the portion that mentions past projects to current and future projects, and that it should include a table that matched stakeholders with projects. Kate moved to approve the minutes with those amendments. Barbara seconded and the motion passed. EAN Presentation Linda McGinnis from EAN lead a presentation entitled 90% by 2050 Tools for Community Engagement, regarding the background and details of the EAN Dashboard. Linda offered to share the ppt with us. A potential opportunity for adding economic piece was discussed. September Meeting The September MEAC meeting will be the second half of Strategic Planning Session and will include a potluck. Becky will send out summaries of each of the “sectors” from stakeholder meetings. That meeting will be Sept 15th from 6-9pm. GUEP Update Barbara updated us. We have a dashboard with GUEP. We’re now using more electricity than our baseline. The three VT GUEP communities are getting together on Sept. 1st to talk about resources. Five people per town can attend that meeting, which is 6-9pm, dinner provided. We haven’t done much to address residential electricity usage. That might be an opportunity for us to reduce our electric usage. Planning Commission Connections Barbara: They recently had a vote to incorporate into the zoning that people can turn their homes into duplexes. Strategic Plan Barry McPhee: A table was developed that identifies next-in-line projects. We’ll probably talk more about it next time. Solar Updates Ken Jones: The school’s solar contract is under negotiation and will go back to the school board for final approval. Anne Watson: City’s Solar Contract has been signed, and the CPG will be submitted by the end of the summer. Voting on a New Chair We should have nominations for chair ahead of voting. We’d like to have nominees for the chair submit a statement or letter of interest by the September meeting, for a vote in October. Carshare Update Dan Costin: Carshare has 69 members! Last month it was 45. We adjourned at 8:46pm
