Montpelier Energy Committee Draft Minutes September 20th 7:00- 8:30 City Hall, Memorial Room Members Present: Kate Stephenson, Barbara Conrey, Dan Costin, Geoffery Fitzgerald, Dan Jones, Ken Jones, Barry McPhee, Johanna Miller, Cara Robechek, Dan Jones, Scott Muller, Anne Watson, Bill Chidsey (Volunteer), Linda McGinnis, Andrea Colnes, Rebecca Harris (AmeriCorps/Secretary) 1. Introductions: Kate calls meeting to order 2. Geoff moves to approve both July/August Minutes and Agendas. Ken moves to second. All in favor. 3. Opportunity for public comment: No public comment 4. Presentation on Community Energy Dashboard (Linda McGinnis)  This is a collaborative project by dozens of partners  How do we translate 90 by 2050 to local action and how do we make energy accessible for all Vermonters?  Works across all sectors: heat, electricity and transportation  Helps track goals/progress, measure/map energy use, and inspire collective action.  Data is updated annually.  Next webinar is Thursday September 29th and second webinar is October 5th and October 24th  Field training (Oct-December) to think through specific actions  Conferences  Gave exploration of community energy dashboard site. Sustainable Design Competition (Dan Jones)  We will open on the 3rd, 4th and 5th from 10am-7pm for community viewing and voting at 62 main street.  There are currently 26 registrants from around the world. Scott – 2011-2016 the city cut greenhouse gases by 57%  Large PV system came online  Currently we sell 30% of gas to outdoor customers  City should have point person to coordinate facilities energy use. The budget comes up in November and we will be looking for a facilities manager. 6. Working Group Reports: Transportation  Meeting with Alta consultant who is doing complete street guidelines for multi- modal transportation.  Changes in MTAC organization Solar  Novus Sharon solar installation is online  Solar Guide- public service department is working on guide for homeowners- coming out Thursday. We will have for net-zero home tour on the 8th.  New net metering rules are changing – 500kw/hr cap per customer Outreach Towards Net Zero House Tour Oct 8  10am-1pm, 15 homeowners have offered up homes for the tour including pVs, weatherization, heat pump, tiny house. Not as walkable/downtown but distributed throughout a lot of neighborhoods. Municipal projects Municipal metrics FY11-16 Revolving Loan Fund next steps  Approved for $ 20,000 (by city council) and 5,000 from efficiency Vermont and another 5,000 once we’ve achieved 50,000  Sustainable endowment institute- developed GRITS an online database system where we can track every project that is proposed for RLF, and tracks GHG emissions and only costs $200 dollars per year. We will sign challenge and get access to database.  We should come up with municipal projects and investments  Should be set up for July 1st. 7. Other Business LED fundraiser in schools (EVT)  Got an email from efficiency Vermont –  Got a pitch from sun commons doing a push from GMP on tesla power wall – have 1000s in stock and will co-market with tesla power wall and put it into GMP bill.
