Call to Order The meeting was called to order at 6:35 PM with a quorum present. 2. Public Comments There were no public comments. 3. Approval of the Agenda D. Carris made a motion, seconded by J.Duggan, to approve the agenda. The motion passed, 4-0. 4. Comments from the Chair – None 5. Review and Approve Minutes from June 13, 2017 E.Peebles made a motion, seconded by D.Carris, to approve the 6/13/2017 minutes. The motion passed, 4-0. 6. Discuss CLG grant & RFP –Design Review Standards & Design Guidelines Staff provided an update on the RFP for the CLG grant to develop design review standards and guidelines. S.McShane reported that the RFP went out a few weeks ago to the list of consultants on file with the State. The closing date was June 30th and no proposals were received. Members discussed opportunities to move the project forward. S.McShane will arrange a meeting with Devin Coleman to discuss possibly ideas. S.McShane will reach out to Bob McCoullough to see if he knows of any UVM students that could possibly assist with the project. This item will be further discussed at the September meeting. 7. Continued: Discussion of Possible Public Outreach & Education Ideas • Historic Walking Tours (Saturday August 5th tentative) • Public Education Activities • Historic New England Trainings Members discussed plans for summer outreach and finalized plans for the August 5th historic walking tour. Members agreed to have a small table by the informational booth on State Street. Members agreed to the following duties: • D.Carris & J.Duggan to lead walking tours. E.Gilbertson to assist. Tours will leave from the information booth and follow State St. to Main down to the library. • E.Peebles will prepare a scavenger hunt and coloring sheets for children. • S.McShane to gather informational materials including developing a postcard with contact information for the City, SHPO, etc. and information on the National Register program. S.McShane to coordinate with Montpelier Alive to advertise on facebook. 8. Continued: Status Update on National Register Nomination (amended boundaries of the Montpelier Historic District) Members discussed the public input meeting for the amended National Register nominmation scheduled for Tuesday August 8th. S.McShane will see if Lysa Papazian and Devin Coleman can provide a brief overview of the historic district and National Register program. Staff will invite Steve Everett and Jon Anderson since they both have used the tax credit program and own historic properties. J.Duggan asked that we invite City Council, Planning Commission, Development Review Board, Design Review Committee, etc. A newspaper article will be printed advertising the meeting. 9. Other Business • Update on possible new members • Correspondence- None • Next Meeting Date – Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at 6:30 PM. Lizzy & Greg Tisher were in attendance and interested in serving on the Commission. S.McShane will connect them with the City Manager’s Office regarding the process for appointment. 11. Next Meeting Date: The next meeting is scheduled for August 8th at 6:30 PM. 12. Adjournment The meeting adjourned at approximately 8:00 PM.
