Dan Dickerson Carolyn Grodinsky Bill Johnson Bryan Pfeiffer, Chairman Sarah Swenson Geoff Beyer, Parks Director Alec Ellsworth, Parks Caretaker Montpelier Park’s Commission Meeting Minutes August 19, 2016 6PM Commissioners Present: Bryan Pfeiffer, Carolyn Grodinsky, Dan Dickerson, Sarah Swenson This was a Parks Commission meeting in North Branch River Park, where commissioners considered only two items: Trail Closure and Rerouting — The Parks Commission agreed to close a now-abandoned, steep snow machine trail in North Branch River Park. It will be replaced with a trail that winds instead up and through the woods. One major benefit is that this new trail will be easier and less expensive to maintain. Another, shorter trail will be developed for easier access and cross-country skiing to higher elevations in North Branch River Park. “Bikepelier” Working Group — In response to a request from Montpelier Mayor John Hollar, Sarah Swenson agreed to serve on a working group to explore new multi-use trails in Montpelier (including city park land). After the meeting, Sarah and Dan Dickerson agreed that Dan would instead serve on this committee.
