REGULAR MEETING 7:00 p.m. The regular meeting was convened at 7:02 p.m. SILENT INVOCATION PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE CITY COUNCIL REPORTS Council Member Carr announced that para-transit services in Santa Clara County have been provided through a contract between the Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) and Outreach Services for many years. That relationship is going to be ending. Over the next twelve months during the transition period a Request for Proposals (RFP) to find a new provider of those services will take place. We have been assured by the VTA that there will be no change in service to our residents during this transition. When we transition to the new provider the goal will be to keep the same existing service. City of Morgan Hill Page 2 Printed on 7/21/2016 City Council Meeting Minutes June 22, 2016 CITY MANAGER'S REPORT City Manager Steve Rymer recognized Maureen Tobin, Chris Ghione, Hilary Holeman, Judy Viegas, Gina Paolini, Nichole Martin, Jennie Tucker, and John Lang for their volunteering their personal time to sell tickets and serve beer and wine for the Friday Night Music Series and supporting the Chamber of Commerce. He shared that this evening new LED lights will be operational at the Third and Monterey intersection downtown. We will be testing those to see if it will be a long term permanent solution. He announced that the Downtown Celebration will take place tomorrow night starting at 5:00 p.m. at the plaza outside the parking garage on Third Street. He invited and encouraged the whole community to attend. This is an opportunity for us to thank the downtown community for their patience through our projects and to celebrate the public investment and new vibrant downtown that we have. He continued by sharing that next Thursday, June 30th, we will hold our Downtown Visionary Summit. There will be two sessions, one in the afternoon from 12:00 to 3:00 and one in the evening from 6:00 to 9:00. This is an opportunity for private developers, as well as, the public realm to see what the public space needs are to make a downtown successful. It's a chance for people to engage with those that are going to invest their private dollars and understand the projects that are coming forward, as well as, how our public art and public spaces like our parks play a vital role in the downtown revitalization. CITY ATTORNEY’S REPORT Special Council Michael Roush thanked the Council for the opportunity to serve them. OTHER REPORTS None. PROCLAMATIONS Proclaiming July 3, 2016 as Mizuho Town / Morgan Hill 10th Anniversary Day Mayor Tate announced that Mayor Ishizuka from our sister city Mizuho Town will be here for the 4th of July festivities. Action: On a motion by Mayor Pro Tem Constantine and seconded by Council Member Librers, adopting resolution 16-109 approving a housing loan to the City Attorney in an amount not to exceed $835,000 and authorizing the Mayor to sign all necessary loan documents and amending the budget up to a maximum of $835,000.
