SPECIAL MEETING April 5, 2022 Special Meeting April 5, 2022: The Special Meeting of the Common Council of the City of Morgantown was held in City Hall Council Chambers on Tuesday, April 5, 2022, at 6:02 p.m. PRESENT: Mayor Jenny Selin, Deputy Mayor Danielle Trumble, Council Members Joe Abu- Ghannam, Bill Kawecki, Ixya Vega, Dave Harshbarger and Brian Butcher. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Selin. Resolution No. 2022-__ A RESOLUTION RESCINDING RESOLUTION 2021-32 AND PROVIDING THAT MASKS ARE NO LONGER REQUIRED FOR PUBLIC MEETINGS The City of Morgantown hereby resolves that, due to the reduced risk of infection with COVID-19 relating to lower infection rates in the community, Resolution No. 2021-31, which required attendees of public meetings of The City of Morgantown to wear a face covering designed to limit airborne spread of disease, is rescinded. Attendees of public meetings of The City of Morgantown are no longer required to wear face coverings, but shall be permitted to wear face coverings designed to limit the airborne spread of disease in their discretion. Resolution No. 2022-___ RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING REQUESTS FOR CONGRESSIONALLY DIRECTED SPENDING The City of Morgantown hereby resolves that the City Manager is authorized to make application for funds available through Congressionally Directed Spending by submitting requests to West Virginia Senators Manchin and Capito in accordance with such procedures, forms, rules, and regulations as may be required by the offices of the Senators, or either of them, or by the United States Senate and its committees; and The City of Morgantown further resolves that it anticipates that the City Manager will request allocation of Congressionally Directed Spending funds in the approximate amount of Six Million Dollars for the purpose of constructing a new fire station to replace the existing South High Street fire station, as well as for such other funds and projects as may be in the best interests of the City of Morgantown and as may be proposed by the offices of Senators Manchin and Capito, or either of them; and The City of Morgantown further resolves that the City Manager is authorized to execute any applications, requests, reports, responses, studies, or other materials necessary and helpful to assist in requesting Congressionally Directed Spending funds as authorized in this Resolution.
