MEETING MINUTES CIVILIAN POLICE REVIEW AND ADVISORY BOARD August 10, 2023, 12:00 p.m. Public Safety Building, Main Level Conference Room 300 Spruce Street, Morgantown, WV 26505 CALL TO ORDER: Rachel Fetty motioned to call the meeting to order. Nicole Lauffer seconded. Members present included Dady Dadyburjor (Zoom), Robert Cohen (Zoom), Rachel Fetty (Zoom) and Nicole Lauffer (Zoom) APPROVAL OF MEETING MINUTES: May; June; July Meeting minutes were not reviewed as a large proportion of Board members were not present. OLD BUSINESS: i. Discussion of request to MPD to provide information (videos and reports) regarding the Sheetz incident in August 2021 There was discussion of the materials needed from the MPD for a case study of this incident. Nicole Lauffer will draft a memo requesting the needed materials and circulate the memo to the Board for review and approval. NEW BUSINESS ii. By-Laws Committee-Progress on the drafting of by-laws The By-Laws Committee advised the Board members present as to general accomplishments during the by-laws meeting. The committee has reviewed roughly half of the drafted articles and is tentatively scheduling another review in two weeks. Bob Cohen discussed sending an email to Ryan Simonton about the bylaws after the second half is reviewed to request a draft review. He will also send a heads-up email regarding current progress. Rachel Fetty reiterated interest in writing up new language for the Purposes section of the by-laws. iii. Training Committee The Board discussed an older action item for Rachel Fetty to write a funding request to City Council for training and other Board needs. Rachel will provide a draft for review to the Board ten days prior to the next (September) meeting. iv. Community Outreach Committee-Progress on establishing public feedback form There was no discussion of this item. V. Statistical Data Reporting Committee-Feedback on reporting examples shared by MPD There was no discussion of this item. ADJOURNMENT: Dady Dadyburjor motioned to adjourn the meeting. Nicole Lauffer seconded. The Board adjourned the meeting unanimously.
