Attended: Joey James (chair), Jim Kotcon, Jenny Selin, Chelsi Baker, Ella Belling, Karen Kalafat, Alex Davis, Hari Jammulamadaka, Kaycie Stushek (new attendee), and Pam Cubberly (by Skype). II. Approval of minutes from last meeting. Minutes were unanimously approved. III. Old Business/Quick Updates  IAC collaboration (Jim Kotcon, Alex Davis, Hari Jammulamadaka). Since launch of the City internship on energy efficiency at the team’s May meeting, Alex Davis, Jim Kotcon, and Damien Davis held an initial meeting to determine first steps, completed on-site training, together they toured half of the buildings selected for evaluation, which included City Hall, the Public Safety Building, Southside Fire Station, Woodburn School buildings, the Spruce Street Parking Building, and the City Maintenance Garage. In the process, they identified some situations that may result in specific recommendations for the city on energy efficiency and achieve cost savings. Alex also gathered, sorted, and organized utility bills from the City’s financial department. In doing this, she found several electrical meters that are being charged a base fee although no electrical usage had been recorded; addressing this could mean savings for the City.  NETL collaboration on city renovation projects (Karen Kalafat). Karen contacted Jeff Mikorski (city manager) twice with information on green options on carpeting and paint; because she did not get a response indicating city interest, she did not contact Joe Kanosky at the National Energy Technology Laboratory for more specific information on sources. She was not certain what the team could do at this point.  Recycling: Application for state funding, etc. (Amanda Stoner, Jim Kotcon). Amanda could not attend but had earlier indicated to some team members that she was having trouble getting the information she needed from the city for the application. Jim mentioned that they thought they had a possible candidate to take over the recycling internship to continue Amanda’s work but this was not yet confirmed. Action: Jim Kotcon said he would follow up with Amanda after the meeting on the grant application.  YTGG activities (Holly Purpura, Chelsi Baker, Pam Cubberly, Jing Zhang) Pam Cubberly continues work on a How2GoGreen series for the fall. Holly Purpura is working this summer on the Green Business Coalition. Jing Zhang could not attend but had indicated he was still interested in helping to start a YTGG column of some kind in the Dominion Post. Action: Chelsi said she would follow up with Jing on the Post column. IV. New Business  Sustainability Saturdays: Chelsi presented her idea of City posts on Twitter every Saturday (to be called Sustainability Saturdays) on how to live sustainably as a way to educate and keep YTGG in front of Morgantowners. She asked team members to send ideas for these tweets. Phase 2 Solar Co-op (Joey James). Joey announced that Karen Ireland of WVSUN said they were ready to help organize a second Morgantown Coop this year. He was inviting groups such as the Sierra Club and League of Women Voters to consider official sponsorship. 1  Green Team Chair / Interim Appointment (Joey James). Joey said he needed to step down. Discussion on a replacement will continue at future meetings.  Summer Stroll on June 25 team participation. Jenny Selin described this educational event and asked if the team wished to participate by having a table or activity. Action: Alex, Hari, and Kaycie (new attender) indicated interest and would work with Jenny on some kind of table or activity. Next meeting: Monday, July 11, 2016, 5:30–7:00pm, City Hall Council Chambers, 389 Spruce Street. 2
