MORGANTOWN HISTORIC LANDMARKS COMMISSION April 21, 2021 Minutes The meeting was called to order at 7:03 pm using Zoom by Shannon Tinnell. Those participating were Shannon Tinnell, Bill Kawecki, Jessica Eichlin, Mark Lambert, Mike Giolious, Dr. Jennifer Thornton, and WVU Students: Jamie Billman, Logan Gillespie, Emily Curtin, Nathan Kosmicki, Clancy Fyock, Jonathan Tracey, Ryan Bilger The minutes of the March meeting were approved. OLD BUSINESS: Oak Grove Cemetery- Pushing this project until next year. Take it off the agenda. The Multi-Site Designation Stone Walls Grant- Dr. Jennifer Thorton and the Public History WVU students gave a final presentation of the research and work they did on the grant this semester including HPI forms, fieldwork, and a rough draft narration for the National Register Nomination. The work will now be sent to the consultant's Mike and Dorothy Giolous for review and final corrections. After that, it will be sent to SHPO and the MHLC for review. After that, the work will be available for public record. A monthly report was sent by Tinnell to WV SHPO. Brochures- The members of the MHLC discussed making changes to the current brochure PDF and would like to include more information on the different historic neighborhoods, one consolidated map, and the addition of a few more photos for context. Kawecki will check in with Andrew Stacy about the current status of the brochures and see if these changes can be made. Facebook Page - Jessica adjusted the Facebook settings so the other members can add content. The MHLC discussed adding Then and Now pictures from the demolition of the 200 block of Pleasant Street to the Facebook page. Vacancy- The MHLC currently has one vacant seat that needs to be filled. 341-345 Chestnut Street - The company that owns the property is determining whether it is to their advantage to knock down the structure known as the Scholar Hotel or can they renovate and expand it? Do they qualify for a historic tax credit? New Business: Adjourn: 7:52
