MORGANTOWN HISTORIC LANDMARKS COMMISSION Feb 16,2022 MHLC Minutes The meeting was called to order at 7:04 pm using Zoom by Shannon Tinnell. Those participating were Shannon Tinnell, Bill Kawecki, Jessica Eichlin and guest, Adelheid Schaupp Jan minutes approved. OLD BUSINESS: -The Multisite Designation Stone Walls Grant has been submitted to WV SHPO for review and passed. Tinnell submitted Mr. Gioulis’s invoice and will complete a final report. -Annual Report needs to be turned in to WVSHPO by the end of the month. Tinnell will contact SHPO and send. NEW BUSINESS: -Adelheid Schaupp approached the MHLC about helping her start the process to get a historic marker for 501 White Avenue in Greenmont. It was the former John Edwards House and Black Elementary School. Schaupp will write a first draft for the MHLC approval. After that the MHLC will contact the City of Morgantown and WVSHPO to see if they will support the project. -PRT 50th Anniversary- The MHLC decided to postpone a History Roundtable until next year and make the PRT anniversary the focus. -5-year plan. What are our goals? Should we do a survey of Marilla Park? -There was discussion on ways to advertise and suggestions for attracting new members. It will be advertised through the City of Morgantown and WVU’s History Department. Jessica will post it on the Facebook page asking for volunteers. There is a new potential member named Mike Jones sending in an application. Adjourn: 7:45
