MORGANTOWN HISTORIC LANDMARKS COMMISSION April 20,2022 MHLC Minutes The meeting was called to order at 7:04 pm using Zoom by Shannon Tinnell. Those participating were Shannon Tinnell, Mike Jones, Bill Kawecki, and Jessica Eichlin. March minutes approved. OLD BUSINESS: -Bill reported that the Harmony Grove project is moving ahead slowly. No additional updates. The site is located outside of Morgantown, so it is technically not in our jurisdiction. -Adelheid Schaupp has not yet reached out regarding the proposed Greenmont markers. Shannon will follow up with her. -The WVU Watts Museum is working on an exhibit related to the PRT. Mike suggested that we reach out to see if there was a possibility for collaboration. The history roundtable could be held in the fall or spring to coincide with WVU events related to the PRT. Mike plans to reach out to the curator via email. -We are not sure if Mike Gioulis has been paid yet. Shannon reached out to Dr. Thornton to get the amount of student hours, but has not heard back yet. NEW BUSINESS: -The commission received a letter from Randy Epperly at the West Virginia Division of Highways regarding the brick street at the intersection of South Walnut Street and Brockway Avenue. The brick repeatedly is exposed in the spring. Discussion on whether the brick was laid by local stonemason, Thoney Pietro, or another entity. -No additional updates on the Harmony Grove project. Site is technically outside city limits. -Bill let us know that the city GIS person is wanting to define the neighborhoods. We had a brief conversation about whether neighborhoods could be defined.
