MORGANTOWN HISTORIC LANDMARKS COMMISSION May 18,2022 MHLC Minutes The meeting was called to order at 7:05 pm using Zoom by Shannon Tinnell. Those participating were Shannon Tinnell, Bill Kawecki, and Jessica Eichlin. April minutes approved. OLD BUSINESS: -The Harmony Grove project is moving forward, per articles in the local newspaper. We have received no additional updates from the project team. -There are no additional updates regarding the Greenmont historical markers proposed by community member Adelheid Shaupp. If Adelheid decides to move forward with the project, the Commission is supportive. -Planning continues for PRT exhibits and events hosted by WVU. We hope to hold the history roundtable to coincide with these events. -The multisite designation stone wall project requires a few edits before being finalized. Waiting to hear back from Mike Gioulis regarding those edits and to ensure he has been paid. -The brick streets at the South Walnut and Brockway Avenue intersection are in disrepair due to asphalt deterioration. We have received no additional correspondence from the city regarding the streets. Bill suggested that concerned citizens could write a letter to the city in support of preserving the brick streets. -There are no updates regarding the definition of city neighborhoods. NEW BUSINESS: -The South Park Association of Neighbors (SPAN) has conducted historic home tours in the past, and would like to do so in the future. Bill reached out to the organization several times but has not received a response. -The Commission received an email from a representative of Aventurine One, LLC and Oracle Consulting Services, LLC. They are looking for a historic building to convert into apartments and/or retail space. The Commission came up with several ideas, including the Flour and Feed building, Seneca Center, the old Wilson building along Deckers Creek, and 120 Clay Street in the Wharf District. Shannon will pass the suggestions along to the representative. Adjourn: 7:31 pm
