City of Morgantown Human Rights Commission Meeting Minutes for December 19, 2019 Present: Kristen Cooper, Secretary Jan Derry Don Spencer (Program Associate) DeeDee McIntosh (PFLAG Liaison) There was not a quorum present, so an informal working meeting took place. The following topics were discussed: The 2019 Annual Report was presented by Don Spencer and it was reviewed and updated by the commissioners, liaison and volunteer who were present. Updates will be incorporated into the Report and it will be approved by the commission at the next meeting. It was suggested that the commission meet prior to the scheduled January meeting to review and approve the report. Kristen Cooper agreed to contact Jacob Powers with the suggestion of calling a meeting in early January. The Human Rights Awards were discussed, and it was agreed that they were a great success this year. The “New to Morgantown” list was discussed. Suggested items for the list were presented. Jan Derry suggested that Kristen Cooper contact Kate Levine-Freedman to get a copy of the existing list that was formulated by Jan’s intern. Don Spencer and Dee Dee McIntosh volunteered to get more information from the City Attorney and the City HR Manager regarding medical coverage for transgender employees. Submitted by Kristen Cooper 1
