Approved April 15, 2020 MORGANTOWN PUBLIC LIBRARY Minutes of the Regular Meeting March 18, 2020 Present: Absent: Also Present: Others Present: Sue Carpenter Judy Panagakos Sarah Palfrey Penny Pugh Linda Durfee Meredith Hartery Call to order The regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Morgantown Public Library convened on March 18, 2020. The meeting convened at 9:04 am, Sue Carpenter, President presiding, Sarah Palfrey, secretary. The Library was closed due to the COVID-19 outbreak. All board members joined by a ZOOM digital call. Approval of the Minutes of the February 19, 2020 Regular Meeting ● Judy Panagakos moved that the minutes be approved as corrected. This motion passed unanimously. PUBLIC FORUM ● None CORRESPONDENCE AND COMMUNICATIONS ● None REPORTS OF COMMITTEES/OFFICERS A. President - None B. Treasurer - None C. Investment Committee - None REPORT OF THE LIBRARY DIRECTOR ● As we discussed over the weekend, we will follow the City’s lead on the closure of public buildings to the general public. Currently the City is closing all public buildings through April 5, 2020. ● I am meeting with staff to determine projects that can be completed in the building while there are no patrons, what can be done from home, and who has life situations that will make either of those options challenging. ● Priorities will be making sure we can pay invoices, complete payroll, and maintenance of buildings and delivery of digital services. ● New communication methods may be necessary due to the difficulty of accessing library issued emails from outside the building. ● February Statistics were presented. BRANCH UPDATES ● All branches are identifying collection and building maintenance projects for the Board Minutes – March 18, 2020– Page 2 closing period. UNFINISHED BUSINESS ● No action was taken. NEW BUSINESS – ● Penny made a motion to continue to pay all staff their regularly scheduled hours until further notice. The motion passed as presented. BOARD COMMENTS ● None ADJOURNMENT – ⮚ Penny Pugh moved to adjourn. The motion carried unanimously. The meeting adjourned at 10:05am.
