MORGANTOWN PUBLIC LIBRARY Approved 2023.01.05 Minutes of the Regular Meeting November 16, 2022 Present: Absent: Also Present: Others Present: Sue Carpenter Amy Loomis Sarah Palfrey Linda Durfee Alexandria Svolos James Spears, V Meredith Hartery Call to order The regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Morgantown Public Library convened via Zoom Video Conferencing on November 16, 2022. The meeting convened at 9:03 am, Sue Carpenter, President presiding, Sarah Palfrey, secretary. Approval of the Minutes  October 19, 2022 - The minutes were approved as corrected. Meredith Hartery moved. The motion passed unanimously. PUBLIC FORUM – None CORRESPONDENCE AND COMMUNICATIONS – None REPORTS OF COMMITTEES/OFFICERS A. President – None. B. Treasurer – o Financial Statements – The financial statements were reviewed and filed for audit. ○ Approval of Checks – Linda Durfee moved to approve checks as presented. The motion passed. C. Investment Committee - None D. Facilities Committee – Arnettsville Community Association is moving forward with replacing the roof over the gym. They are covering all the costs. Sarah Palfrey and Janet Nurkiewicz met with Michael Mills to have the first high level conversation about what spaces and size we would like to see for a new branch library. It was an informative and productive conversation. REPORT OF THE LIBRARY DIRECTOR & BRANCH UPDATES  See Director’s report UNFINISHED BUSINESS  Policy Review Schedule – No update. NEW BUSINESS –  Check signers –No action was taken. BOARD COMMENTS – Discussion was held about moving the Board meeting to include the newly appointed member. Preference was still to have the meeting during the day with no real preference between Wednesday or Thursday. Sarah will get in touch with Alexandria for input. Board agreed to skip the December meeting if the new regular time is the first week of the month. Board Minutes – November 16, 2022 – Page 2 Linda Durfee expressed sincere thanks to Penny Pugh for her ten years of service and strong leadership as a member of the Board of Trustees. Other Board members and the Library Director also stated their appreciation for Penny’s positive attitude and professional expertise. Sue Carpenter commented on the relief of the failing of Amendment 2 in the November election. ADJOURNMENT – Linda Durfee moved to adjourn. The motion carried unanimously.
