MATTER OF BUSINESS:
Chairman Matt Cross called the meeting to order at 6:30p.m. and held roll call.
PUBLIC COMMENTS:

COMMITTEE REPORTS:
Matt Cross stated that the Traffic Calming Committee was still in place and needed
to meet.
Chip Wamsley stated that the Bicycle Board is excited about all the shared lane
markings that have been installed and is looking forward to the signage that will be installed
this spring to go along with it. Students/Alta are working on a Promotional Package for a
roll out and dedicate shared lane markings. Discussion ensued.
Traffic Commissioners:
Matt Cross stated that the Pedestrian Board has had meetings about the Pedestrian
Frances Brownfield, 1st Ward,
Vice Chair and Bicycle plan for the county. There was a presentation at the Met Theatre for public

input on infrastructure improvements. Matt Cross discussed hazards to pedestrians
crossing streets.

Steven Crandall, 4th Ward DEPARTMENTAL REPORTS:
VACANT, 5th Ward Damien Davis reviewed the 2019 Paving List that was sent to City Council for
Erica Hetzel, 6th Ward approval on February 5, 2019. This list was generated from the study done by Dynatest

on our city streets. Discussion ensued.

Matthew Cross, Pedestrian Drew Gatlin reviewed the possible locations of the new bus shelters. Discussion

Damien Davis reviewed the changes to Article 907 “Encroachments and
Excavations” of City Code. Discussion ensued.

COMMISSION COMMENTS
Capt. Matt McCabe, Police Dept. Francis expressed her appreciation to the MPD for their presence on Madison
Ave and Mississippi Street.
Erica also expressed her thanks to MPD and the Mayor. She also expressed her
disappointment in the WVDOH and stated that the City needs to do more maintenance on
state routes since WVDOH was not providing the maintenance needed, there needs to be
some agreement between the City and WVDOH for this to happen.

Erica also asked about any WVDOH updates. Discussion ensued.
Martin thanked MPD and Council and the Mayor as well. Martin asked what we
can actions can be done to secure the safety of pedestrians who cross streets. It is very
dark in many heavily traveled areas. Something needs to be done. On February 9, 2019
there will be an influx of Scouts in the areas. Please be careful of all pedestrians.

Chip stated that the Alta People who are coming in handed out a survey and there
will be a survey online in about a week. Discussion ensued
Erica Hetzel moved to adjourn. Chip Wamsley seconded motion. Motion passed
unanimously.
