Woodburn School Redevelopment Commission
Minutes of Thursday March 28, 2019
Members present: John Trumble, Carol Wilson, Marti Shamberger, Ron Dulaney, Kate Levine-Freeman.
The meeting was called to order and introductions were made by John Trumble at 6:00 p.m. at Woodburn
School.
The November and January, February minutes were not approved due to lack of a quorum. (There were
no minutes from December due to the meeting being cancelled).
Guests: Danielle Trumble, Summer Philips AmeriCorp worker with the Brownfield Group.
Carol Wilson expressed her appreciation of being on the Commission and the efforts of the group. Due to
time constraints, she will be submitting her letter of resignation.
Discussion was held about planning the event on April 27 from 1-4 p.m. focusing on what goes on at the
Woodburn School site and why it is important. The following action items from the meeting were:
Summer is organizing a clean-up with WVU students for the morning of the event and hastaken care of
supplies
John will follow up on Facebook verbage for the event page and forwarding to the City calendar
Kate will follow up with the nonprofits to nail down activities (update the shared document)
Ron will give building tours on the ½ hour
Marti will set up a branding idea booth; and will provide balloons for the day of the event.
Chris will follow up on food truck.
Ron-Check with the Mills Group re: update on ADA construction; Follow up with Public Works about
the drainage ditch and bumper stops for the parking lot.
Reminded to ask Chris what the grant was applied for from Dominion Hope.
*We need to decide what our backup plan will be at the next meeting concerning inclement weather
Danielle Trumble has also been in contact with Richard Dalton WAN to coordinate a Woodburn
Neighborhood Association meeting which will be April 3 at 6:00 p.m. at Woodburn School.
The meeting was adjourned at 7:00 p.m.
The next meeting will be April 25, 2019@ 6 p.m. at Woodburn School.
