Woodburn School Redevelopment Commission Minutes of Thursday February 27, 2020 Members present: John Trumble, Marti Shamberger, Chris Haddox, Kate Levine, and Marly Hazen The meeting was called to order by Chris Haddox at 6:05 p.m. at Crosley’s. It was noted that there was not a meeting in January 2020. Chris Haddox gave an update on the walk through of the Woodburn School building on February 12. Attending the walk thru were City Public Work’s Director Alex Stockdale, City Director of Engineer Damian Davis, WRDC members Ron Dulaney, Chris Haddox and Marti Shamberger. Members of the WRDC observed the progress of the elevator shaft installation, ceiling and wall repair, installation of the new doors and ADA entrance, repointing on the chimney and roof repair. Members pointed out concerns of the front facing west wall of the building not being removed for repair. The status of the occupancy of the Boys and Girls Club was discussed. The group suggested that maybe the city needed to give them a deadline to respond if they were going to continue to occupy the building. Branding of the site was discussed. Marly Hazen made the suggestion of calling the site the “Woodburn Center” using a logo idea of fire and flames. Marly also offered to work on the Facebook page with Chris. The possibilities of linking the other occupants FB pages or websites was also discussed The meeting was adjourned at 7:07 p.m. The next meeting to be determined.
