Woodburn Commission

Woodburn School Redevelopment Commission Minutes of Thursday April 29, 2021 Members present: John Trumble, Marti Shamberger, Ron Dulaney, Ross Justice, Marly Ynigues and Evan Fedorko. Guest: Danielle Trumble, City Councilor elect The meeting was called to order by John Trumble at 6:04 p.m. via ZOOM. The minutes were accepted as presented. Outside property issues- no update. Evan will coordinate with Chris reaching out to MT Pockets and FODC to see if they would like to help with a cleanup. Building related issues-construction has continued on the inside upgrading the bathrooms. Construction should be finished around the end of June. Space planning and marketing- tabled until next meeting Rebranding/naming several suggestions were given for renaming the property including: The Overlook, Woodburn Place, The Summit, Eastview Place, The Woodburn Center for New Growth, The Woodburn Center 918 Fortney Street, 918 Fortney, Woodburn Multitenant Center, Woodburn Community Assets Center, Woodburn Center for Community Assets, Woodburn Center for Community Growth and Development, Old School New Direction, Old School Center for Community Development and Woodburn Center for Community Development and Activity. John volunteered to send a poll out to the group to pick the top five names and will bring the results back to the group at the next meeting. B & G cleanout- City personnel and volunteers cleaned out the space previously occupied by the Boys and Girls Club. Items left were cleaned out of the building to make preparations for the new tenants. New tenant leases were issue for The Shack and the Mountaineer Home School Hub. The leases will begin July 7, 2021 early access for both groups will begin June 6, 2021. Mural-John is going to set up a meeting with Jesse Heady regarding a mural up at Woodburn. Ron Dulaney suggest that the new City Director of Arts and Culture be invited since the school is City property. Several suggestions were made of what the mural should reflect, Woodburn an Arts and Music Community or similarity of the panels which were done by Jamie Lester, and letting the artist decide. The meeting was adjourned at 6:48 p.m. The next schedule meeting is June 24, 2021 at 6:00 p.m. via Zoom.
