Woodburn School Redevelopment Commission Minutes of Thursday July 29, 2021 Members present: Chris Haddox, John Trumble, Marti Shamberger, Marly Hazen Ynigues, Danielle Trumble, City Councilor elect The meeting was called to order by Chris Haddox at 6:04 p.m. via ZOOM. The minutes were accepted as presented. Building updates Status of old tenants. The Assistant City Manager is working with the Boys and Girls Club to finalize their property being removed from the school property. Status of new tenants The Shack has not officially moved in to date. Mountaineer Home School Hub has moved in and started classes. They will be hosting an open house on August 14 from 1-4 p.m. The Commission agreed to follow up with all tenants to see if there are any issues or events we could assist with. Lower Parking lot the City is looking into the vehicles that have been left in the lower parking lot. Playground the City is gathering information about equipment for playground improvements. The City will be developing a survey for input about the playground. Rebranding Marly met with the Jerome Park Neighbors Assn. and asked for input regarding rename the property. Suggestions were to keep the name simple, possibly name after a community member. Chris stated that the Woodburn Assn of Neighbors was meeting Monday August 2 and input from that group could be helpful too. Chris would follow up with Evan who was working on a mission statement for the Commission. It was suggested that maybe input on the name would be coordinated with the same survey about the playground. Marly said that she had arranged a meeting with the City Director of Communications Andrew Stacey on Monday August 2 at 2:00 p. m. via Webex to discuss rebranding of the property. Chris asked that the link be sent out to the commission in case others could attend. It was also suggested asking the tenants for input on renaming the property. Commission members agreed that keeping the name simple would be best. Mural update- Jesse Heady was unable to meet with John this past month. John will check with the Director of Arts and Culture at the city regarding a mural at Woodburn.. The meeting was adjourned at 6:52 p.m. The next schedule meeting is August 26, 2021 at 6:00 p.m. via Zoom.
