As per Ryan Simonton's suggestion, WSRC is good with being renamed the Woodburn Commission. Please let us know how to proceed if there is anything to do on our end. I’m working with Ryan on making these changes and getting it on a council agenda. 2. We would like to do an annual report to the COW in Feb or Mar. Danielle will work on getting that on the schedule This was done, great! 3. Regarding signage for the WCC, we will forward some ideas to you in the coming days. The Commission does think that signage at both the school, and along the intersection of Charles and Fortney would be a good idea. If we can only go with one sign, perhaps the bottom location makes the best sense to connect the WCC to the neighborhood. I would say we could do one small sign at the bottom and possibly a bigger one at the school itself. Would depend on cost and approval from Urban Landscape Commission and others. 4. The Commission would like a report on the status of capital improvements to the main school building--recently completed and what is scheduled. We feel that we need to be able to explicitly communicate to the public/future tenants/current tenants where we stand and what plans we have to address existing deficiencies with the structure. The Commission is not suggesting that not enough has been done...we fully understand the challenges...but we do advocate for a fleshed out plan that we can all get behind to make happen. Two main items are listed on “up and coming”. The first: This upcoming FY23 year is budgeted to get a roof replacement (and porch repair) design with the construction anticipated the fiscal year FY24 after. The second: We are also looking to see how we can replace the HVAC, possibly using more CDBG funds. A guess a somewhat third project is: We are also working on the outdoor playground related stuff (playground, potentially resurfacing walking trail, mural, creating playground mini parking lot, repairing drainage, and putting concrete pad under pavilion. 5. As the Commission understands, the final payment of $70,000 to the BOE should occur sometime in the FYE 6/30/22. Just confirming that. Final payment was made 10/18/2021. 6. Do you know if there is a written report from the energy audit that Alex had arranged with WVU awhile back? If so, could we please get a copy of that. I’ll have to look into this more and get back to you. I’m not sure where this was left. 7. The Commission briefly discussed the notion of using the space for some type of City employee- focused activities, such as daycare and/or wellness center. The feeling is that the building would need much attention (thus the capital improvement plan request – can you further explain what type of capitol improvements? We already had childcare services in here before all of the current improvements.) in order to house such activities, but as for the activities themselves, the Commission was receptive to them. Any updates to report on that front? We had a meeting with a group who thought we were too small and wanted significant money upfront to provide the services, like over half a million in investments. Likely would need to look to a local group. May be putting out a call for qualified vendors/service providers. Likely won’t get to that until mid march.
