MOSES LAKE MUNICIPAL AIRPORT ADVISORY BOARD
A regular meeting of the Moses Lake AirportAdvisory Board was held at the AirportOperations
Building, Friday, noon, 8, June, 2018.
Board Members Present: Darel Fuller, Chairman; Richard Pearce, Dean Hankins, and Tim
Prickett.
Visitor: Delone Krueger and Fred Snoderly, City of Moses Municipal Services Director
Minutes: Minutes from the meeting held May 11, 2018 were approved.
Airport Inspection: The June inspection was done by Richard Pearce. Richard Pearce will do the
July inspection.
Old Business:
A. Taxiway Repair - FEMA Grant: Fred reported to the Board that the contractor should
be there soon to start on repairs, possibly next month.
B. Gopher Damage: Fred received a quote of $23,000 from a contractor. There was
discussion on the high cost. The fact that the endangered pygmy rabbits are found in
this area may be why the cost is so high. Fred talked about putting the wires for the
lights in conduit but Darel said the problem was not with the wires to the lights but the
data wire and the automatic sprinkler wiring. Fred and Mike will be meeting with
contractor next week to discuss problem. Tim felt the gopher problem needed to be
taken care of before fall.
C. Hangar Requests: Darel said the Airport gets requests once or twice a week for hanger
rentals. He has been referring them to Othello or Ephrata. Richard wondered if Rod
Richeson had a building permit for hangars. He was looking at building 6 hangars and a
shop. No one knew where that was at.
New Business:
A. Runway Asphalt Inspection -WSDOT-June 3, 2018: Darel reported that a contractor for
WSDOT came and inspected the runway. Richard said that the State inspects the
runways at airports that have received grant money and publish a report every year.
B. 1st Qtr. 2018 Financial Report: No report has been received. Fred will get the report to
them next month. Richard felt this year's budget would be tight. There was discussion
about the cost to fix the snowplow. The Airport will pay half and the city will be
responsible for the other half of the repair.
C. Transient trespassing around hangars observed and reported. Darel reported that the
police had reports of a transient lurking around the hangars but he disappeared. Richard
mentioned the fire at Beeline was caused by a transient. There was discussion about the
need for fencing and lighting.
D. Wind Tee Lighting Alternatives: Right now the Airport is using incandescent lighting and
Darel thinks they should be replaced with LED lights. Tim agreed with Darel. There was
some discussion on how and where to put the lights on the wind tee. Tim said he would
have his son look into getting some. Darel thought he could replace them himself.
Richard and Dean said they could help him when he is ready to replace the lights.
E. Other: The sock needs replacing. There was discussion on the cost of services that the
City provides for the Airport. Richard doesn't want to ask the City of any additional
money. Fred said if the Airport needs additional money above what they bring in in
leases then they need to discuss it in their budget meetings. The Parks and Recreation
Department should be putting the sprinklers in in September. WSDOT camera problem
is fixed it is now working but the security camera is not. Darel asked about who was
revising the Airport Operations Manual and where that was at. Public Works
Department has the manual.
